I am a researcher and lifelong student of multiple aspects of Islamic tradition, sociology of religion, and theology. My work asks how religious traditions and theological ideas shape social activism and everyday life for Muslims and others engaged in struggles for justice, both in Muslim-majority contexts and minority settings.
Drawing on political and liberation theologies, social movement theory, and phenomenological approaches to Islam, I study the ethical, political, and existential dimensions of contemporary Muslim life. I am particularly interested in how people invoke faith, negotiate power and inequality, and imagine more dignified futures in times of crisis and rapid change. This site gathers my research, teaching, and public engagement, and is meant as a resource for those who wish to read, collaborate, or simply think along with these questions.
Here you’ll find my publications, ongoing projects, teaching materials, and ways to get in touch.
